Brendan Fraser struggles to anchor "Pressure," a plodding D-Day procedural that mistakes atmospheric gloom for dramatic tension. The film follows meteorologists tasked with predicting weather conditions critical to Operation Overlord's success, a genuinely compelling premise that the movie squanders through sluggish pacing and underdeveloped character work.

Fraser plays General Dwight D. Eisenhower, the Supreme Commander burdened with the invasion's ultimate responsibility. His performance lands somewhere between dutiful and disengaged, unable to generate the gravitas the role demands. Andrew Scott and Chris Messina appear as meteorologists integral to the operation's execution, but their contributions feel peripheral rather than central to the narrative tension.

The film's core concept has merit. The role of weather prediction in Operation Overlord remains historically fascinating, and the pressure these scientists faced to deliver accurate forecasts shaped one of World War II's pivotal moments. Yet "Pressure" treats this material with all the vitality of an educational documentary, draining the inherent drama from the situation.

What emerges instead is a film more interested in recreating period authenticity than generating genuine stakes. Scenes unfold with dutiful precision but little emotional resonance. Conversations between characters feel obligatory rather than revealing. The meteorological jargon, while presumably accurate, never illuminates character or conflict.

Scott and Messina deserve better material. Both actors bring intelligence to their roles, but the screenplay gives them little to work with beyond explaining weather patterns and worrying about forecasts. Their scenes together might have provided the human element "Pressure" desperately needs, yet the film keeps them at arm's length from genuine character development.

Director Jon Schrader opts for murky cinematography that matches the film's tone. Gray skies and overcast lighting dominate, creating visual monotony rather than ominous atmosphere
