Peacock is bringing back the creative team behind Parks and Recreation for a new comedy. Dig, starring Amy Poehler and Hugh Laurie, premieres November 23 on the streaming platform. The series reunites Poehler with Michael Schur, the executive producer of Parks and Rec who shaped that show's satirical voice.

The premise centers on a team of archaeologists and college students working a summer dig site in Greece. Their excavation takes a turn when they uncover a rare artifact that sets off the central conflict of the season. Peacock positions Dig as a workplace comedy in the Parks and Rec mold, trading municipal government for academia and archaeology.

Laurie, meanwhile, recently wrapped his run as Gregory House on the Fox medical drama that made him a household name, and has taken on increasingly diverse roles in prestige television and film.

The timing positions Dig for the fall viewing season when audiences traditionally return to prestige comedies. Peacock, which has struggled to compete with Netflix and Disney+ in the comedy space, banks on the nostalgic pull of a Parks and Rec reunion plus the cultural cache of two established stars to drive subscriptions and engagement.

The Greece setting gives the show visual texture and travel appeal that resonate with post-pandemic audiences seeking escapist content. By framing the comedy through an ensemble of characters at different career stages, Dig
