New York's Town Hall will host a staged reading of an unmade "Difficult People" movie script on Nov. 3, Election Night. Creator Julie Klausner wrote the script with Alex Scordelis for Universal, which commissioned but never produced the film.

The reading reunites the cast of the Hulu sitcom that ran from 2015 to 2017. Klausner and Billy Eichner will reprise their roles as Julie and Billy, attempting once more to achieve stardom after leaving entertainment. The script explores how the industry has shifted, from cheap horror films to the rise of social-media influencers.

Joining them are Andrea Martin as Julie's mother Marilyn, James Urbaniak as Arthur, Julie's boyfriend, and Gabourey Sidibe as Denise, Billy's restaurant boss. Guest performers include Christopher Meloni, Cecily Strong, Michael Urie and Paul Walter Hauser. Cole Escola, who played Billy's co-worker Matthew, is unavailable. Susan Lucci will take that role instead.

The show built its comedy by skewering Hollywood and its protagonists, who understood the industry's flaws while harboring delusions about their own prospects. "Difficult People" originally aired on USA before becoming one of Hulu's first original series.
